Ian Elmer, Technical Services Manager for the AMTECH Group chaired the CIBSE Green Specification and New Technologies Conference at CIBSE’s head office in Balham on the 22nd February. The purpose of this conference was to investigate the main drivers, environmental issues and regulations that affect the production of ‘green’ specifications.

The conference also covered the key benefits of some of the new technologies currently available to assist in the design of sustainable building services systems and provided delegates with advice when writing a specification. It also identified ways of making green specification affordable and raised delegates' awareness of new legislation that may affect their spec as well as introducing new low carbon technologies that can be written into specs such as dynamic demand management.

In addition to chairing the conference Ian Elmer also presented the first talk of the day – ‘What Drives a Green Specification’.

During the afternoon a short ceremony took place to mark an agreement between CIBSE and AMTECH Group where CIBSE now endorse and recommend AMTECH’s LUCKINSlive online building services directory.
